Cricket

Sheffield Collegiate Cricket Club is the premier cricket club in South Yorkshire and has an illustrious history dating back to its formation in 1881. Running womens and girls teams as well as mens and boys teams,  new members are always welcome. The club is based at Abbeydale Sports Club.

Abbeydale is the Sheffield home of R66TAcademy, running coaching sessions for boys  from 5 to 11 years and girls from 5 – 13.  Friday evenings from Mid April.  The academy is a great evening for the whole  family to enjoy the cricket, the open space and the big family BBQ.

Bowls

Bowls

The club has its own large pavilion offering shelter from the elements and also tea and coffee facilities. Crown Green Bowling is available most days for all age groups and all abilities male and female.  The club is primarily a social bowling club where members meet informally throughout the day to enjoy bowling and meet other people.

Regular club events such as Friendly Fixtures, Inter-Club Fixtures, Match Days, Suppers & Dinners take place within the club.  During winter, there are weekly coffee mornings plus bingo, beetle drives and keep fit for the elderly.

Playing Facilities

The Green is located at the top of the Abbeydale site discretely behind the landscaped shrubbery. The grounds are maintained by our full-time grounds man to a high standard. The pavilion provides shelter from the odd shower or sun. Tea & Coffee facilities are also available.

Other Facilities

The club has good spectator facilities and free parking for up to 250 cars.

The function room is a great place for family celebrations of any size and is available to all members of the public.

Hockey

Sheffield Hockey Club are one of the largest Clubs in the County with 9 Mens and 5 Womens teams plus a thriving junior section.  

The Club prides itself on its excellent coaching scheme for young people and has close link with Sheffield Hallam University hockey programme.

Rugby

The first team currently play in the National League 2 and the club has a further 3 senior teams in addition to a women’s team and a strong age grade section for girls and boys,which meets mainly on Sunday mornings.

Before every mens first team home game, the club holds a pre-match lunch at Abbeydale which also gives great views of the game – perfect for entertaining your business clients.

New Players & Members

Whatever you’re ability, you will find a welcome at the club.

Abbeydale Sports Club operates the astro all weather pitch.

You can book either the whole pitch or half the pitch for one off games or for regular bookings. Junior football and schools are welcome. Or book the pitch for a party and add some food in the Omega restaurant in the Clubhouse after.
