New Players & Members

We have many areas of interest for players of all ability for those who are just starting out and learning to play to the experienced / seasoned player.

There is an open invitation for anyone with an interest in Table Tennis to come along free of charge and get introduced and try it out. You will be made welcome regardless of your playing standard.

In the Winter league 2016/17 we have entered 9 teams playing in the 6 divisions of the Sheffield Table Tennis League and we welcome new and experienced players at all levels.

We run coaching sessions on most Saturday mornings for juniors of all ages. Beginners session at 09.00am. More advanced players are catered for at the two later sessions commencing at 10.00am and 11.00am respectively. Cost £3.50 per session (Plus £21 Annual membership)

Shaun Alvey & Nigel Coward (both ETTA qualified coach’s) assists in coaching some of the Abbeydale junior & adult players.

We also run a dozen junior teams in the Sheffield Junior TT League and like to include all our Saturday morning youngsters in this exciting event.

The junior coaching is going from strength to strength in its attendance and we would welcome any new players. We currently have Isobel Ashley, Sheffield’s No.1 Ranked female play and Tim Denby Division 1 top player assisting on the Saturday morning sessions.

Child welfare during these sessions is paramount and all our coaches have DBS Certificates and the club has a safeguarding policy that is reviewed on a regular basis.

For the Older Recreational Player

The University of the Third Age (U3A) have sessions here on Monday and Thursday Mornings. If you think you might want to play on a part time / regular basis then please contact either; Belinda Taylor or John Warwick

Membership for the U3A section requires you to be a member of the National U3A + Abbeydale Table Tennis Club U3A membership (see above). U3A coaching is sometimes available by prior appointment.

All Abbeydale Table Tennis Club members and guests can use the main Clubhouse bar, featuring fine wines, hand pulled ales and bar food.
